Project Description
Hábitat Bolívar is an urban intervention project located in the heart of Medellín. It aims to revitalize the network of internal commercial passageways by reintegrating them into the public realm. Through these strategies, the project encourages fluid pedestrian connections across blocks, creating a more accessible and cohesive commercial environment.
The proposal introduces building setbacks to open up urban space, enhancing the relationship between architecture and public space. A key design move includes the adaptive reuse of the rooftop of the Gutenberg building, transforming it into an elevated plaza. This elevated space offers a new dimension of public engagement, while new residential units are introduced at upper levels, adding mixed-use potential to the intervention.
The ultimate vision of Hábitat Bolívar is to shift the site from a zone of transit to a space of permanence and contemplation, reactivating underutilized urban fabric and encouraging collective ownership.
